Annique Rooibos Pomegranate range
I’m not a high maintenance gal. I don’t fork out hundreds on skin care products. I’ve been using the same brand of cleanser for a decade now. I have not coloured my hair in over ten years, and I am HAPPILY embracing the greys that come with age. My level of self love has very little to do with the colour of my hair, is what I say.
See? I told you I’m a simple, low maintenance woman and I am happy in my own little low maintenance bubble. Haha!
Another thing about me is that I have entered quite a few competitions in my lifetime. Alhamdulillah! I am very grateful for the goodness that has been bestowed up on me. Here’s a list of some of the things I received:
- A week’s holiday at Durban Spa (I was in primary school at the time, my parents were thrilled!)
- A single ticket to Dubai (I was about 20… I took a small cash reward instead)
- A set of 5 SpongeBob SquarePants DVDs (just after Idrees was born, 8 years ago – it was a huge help in keeping Ibrahim occupied while I saw to the baby)
- Numerous little things from call-in shows at radio stations – like a handbag (which I gave to my mom), headsets (which I gave my boys)…
- Tickets to events like the ECR House & Garden Show, Decorex, Mama Magic…
But, the ones wow the crowd are:
- A PlayStation 4! (MANY years ago!), and
- A rose gold branded watch
Why am I telling you all this, though?
I am sure you are wondering why I am sharing this with you today. Haha!
Well, you see, these two facts about me culminate in my reason for this post.
When I saw a competition recently on the SA Mom Blogs, Facebook page, I knew I just had to try my luck. It was for a gift set of Annique Rooibos Pomegranate products, which I’ve been curious about for a while. You’ve got to be in it to win it, I always say, so I entered and…
Well, I won it – Alhamdulillah – and it has been a delightful addition to my not-so-structured skincare routine. So, in this post, I would like to sing its praises.
The set included a body wash, a body lotion, and a lip balm, all featuring the invigorating scent of natural pomegranate. Now, if you know me, you know that I am super sensitive to strong scents, especially synthetic ones, and this sensitivity has sometimes led to migraines…
Thankfully, these products were perfect for me… and my sensitive nose… and my unstructured skin care routines.
Annique Rooibos Pomegranate Body Wash
The body wash is a burst of freshness, leaving my skin feeling clean without any dryness. Its natural fragrance is soothing and it doesn’t trigger my sensitivity to smells, making it a perfect choice for those with heightened olfactory senses.
Annique Rooibos Pomegranate Body Lotion
The body lotion is a true hydrating gem. It absorbs quickly, leaving my skin soft and moisturised. The subtle hint of pomegranate adds a pleasant touch, creating a sensory experience that I actually look forward to.
Annique Rooibos Pomegranate Lip Balm
The lip balm has become a daily essential for me. It not only keeps my lips nourished but also boasts the same natural scent. Again, I appreciate that the fragrance is not overpowering, allowing me to enjoy the product without worrying about migraines.
The natural scents make them a winner for individuals like me with fragrance sensitivity, providing a refreshing and hydrating skincare routine. Overall, I highly recommend this gift set for anyone seeking a treat for their skin.
My personal experience with these Annique Rooibos Pomegranate products has been overwhelmingly positive, and it has prompted me to do a bit of research on the benefits of the primary ingredients.
Are Rooibos and Pomegranate good for Skincare?
Did you know that Rooibos is native to South Africa. It ONLY grows in the Cederberg region in the Western Cape. That means, of all places in the entire world, we in South Africa have been blessed with this particularly. Which of the favours of our Lord do we deny?
Here are some of the things I learnt (or reminded myself) about Rooibos after using these products:
- It is an antioxidant, so it helps with skin complexion and pre-mature aging.
- It has anti-inflammatory effects, so it’s good for eczema, etc.
- It balances the natural moisture in the skin, so it is hydrating.
- It contains zinc, manganese and Vitamin D – all of which improve skin health.
- Although it doesn’t replace sunblock, it is does offer a small level of sun protection.
- It’s hypoallergenic. This means it is suitable for people with sensitive skin.
That being said, perhaps its time I started to ‘fake-it-till-I-make-it’ with Rooibos tea!
We know that Pomegranate is often referred to as a fruit of Jannah (heaven), so it goes without saying that its benefits are numerous.
After using these products and learning more about the benefits of the ingredients, I realised that Rooibos and Pomegranate have an overlap in benefits, and that’s probably why this product works so well.
- It is also an antioxidant.
- It also has anti-inflammatory properties.
- It also offers some level of UV protection.
- It also has hydrating properties.
- It stimulates the production of collagen, and we know that this is amazing for the skin.
- It promotes skin regeneration, so it’s amazing for acne scars and wounds.
- It has anti-bacterial properties.
- It reduces hyperpigmentation, so it can reduce the appearance of dark marks.
- The acids in the fruit have a brightening effect.
- It’s a natural astringent. This means that it helps to close and tighten the pores.
Subhanallah! So much of goodness from the earth.
